Fast cover without a temporary result
Emergency seed often solves only the first week. This blend pairs fast annual ryegrass with perennial ryegrass that stays.
Moves in colder soil
Useful when normal lawn seed waits. The annual ryegrass half can start at around 4 degrees Celsius, which is well below what a standard lawn mixture needs.

It took a bit longer to start germinating than I thought as I didn’t see anything for two weeks, but it’s growing well now. I’ve got multiple blades of grass from single seeds which is really good to see.

Worth settling before next season rather than in a support email, because half of what came up is not meant to stay.
The honest answer
Half the mix is annual ryegrass.
It gives fast cover, then completes its life cycle. The perennial half gives the permanent repair, and it is the grass that is still there in year two.
Annual ryegrass handles the urgent stage.

What to expect, and who it’s not for
We would rather you bought the right bag than the wrong one, even if that means buying a cheaper one from us.
What to expect
- Early cover from annual ryegrass.
- Permanent wear tolerance from perennial ryegrass.
- A practical repair for worn sports or lawn areas.
Good to know
- It is not an ornamental lawn mix. For a fine finish choose Ultimate.
- It is not the best full-lawn choice for most homes. Choose Multi Purpose or Hard Wearing.
- It cannot germinate in frozen, dry or waterlogged soil. No seed can.
Questions, answered
Before you buy
How quickly will it germinate?
Faster than an ordinary lawn mix in cool soil, because the annual ryegrass half can start at around 4 degrees Celsius. In warm soil expect the first green in the first week or two. Cold soil slows every seed down.
Will all of the grass die after one year?
No, half of it will. Annual ryegrass completes its life cycle in a year and the perennial ryegrass stays. That is how the mix is meant to work.
Can I use it for a complete new lawn?
You can, but it is not the best choice. Half the bag will not be there in a year. For a permanent lawn choose Hard Wearing, Multi Purpose or Ultimate.
Can I sow it in winter?
In a mild spell, yes, which is the point of the mix. Soil at around 4 degrees or warmer, and workable. Frozen or waterlogged ground will not grow seed whatever is in the bag.
Is it suitable for football and rugby repairs?
Yes. Goalmouths, touchlines and worn central strips are its main job.
How short can I mow it?
Down to 20mm. Not on the first cut, though. Let the new grass establish and take the tips off first.
