Traditional Lawn Grass Seed

From

£18.99£124.00

Our Traditional Lawn Seed mixture is the one to choose for formal, luxurious lawns. A slow growing blend of pure fescue species (strong creeping red fescue and slender creeping red fescue) means that this grass seed mixture is also perfect for low maintenance lawns and landscaping projects.

As well as being exceptionally fine and dense, this grass seed mixture is also slow growing, meaning that this mixture is ideal for large landscapes and open spaces that will not receive heavy foot traffic.

Nearly all motherwart

Thank you for your response but it’s not the odd patch. It’s all of it. I’ve attached pictures on the area I’ve left to remove. There’s hardly any grass.
And it is motherwart. It smellls like gone off fish when you squeeze it and I’ve had it verified.

Waited for rain to be forecast before seeding and now it is eventually coming through but it is nearly all motherwart.
There’s hardly any grass.
I’ve had to dig all the top layer of soil up and remove it from my garden.
Still got over 50m2 left to do. I’m not at all happy!!

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review.

We’re sorry to hear about your concerns, and we completely understand your frustration with the appearance of motherwort in your newly seeded lawn. Please rest assured that all of our seed is certified and guaranteed not to contain motherwort (Leonurus cardiaca).

It’s actually quite common for weeds to emerge in a new lawn. When soil is prepared for seeding, it can bring dormant weed seeds to the surface where they take advantage of the same ideal conditions that help your grass grow.

We recommend giving your lawn some time to establish before taking any major action. Most weeds will naturally reduce once you begin mowing - usually around 6 to 8 weeks after sowing. In the meantime, you can gently remove any persistent weeds by hand. We advise holding off on weed killers for now, as they can harm young grass.

If you notice any larger gaps as your lawn develops, feel free to overseed with the appropriate seed mix to help fill them in.

We appreciate your understanding and hope that with a little patience and care, your lawn will soon thrive. If we can help further, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

Best regards,

Only about 50% set

Having prepared my lawn by scarifying and cutting it short, I spread the grass seed ensuring good soil contact, I watered the grass 3 times daily but still only approx half the seed took and I now have a patchy lawn.0

Sorry to hear you are only seeing 50% of the grass seed take in your lawn. It's important to keep in mind that fescue can take up to 21 days to germinate, so it's possible that the remaining seeds are still in the process of growing. The forecasted rain should actually help with the germination process. We recommend continuing to water and persevere, and hopefully you'll see a fuller lawn soon. Thanks for choosing our Traditional Lawn Grass Seed.

Good Germination
