Wet Soils & Clay Grass Seed

From

£44.00£124.00

Grass seed for clay soils that often sit wet or suffer from occasional flooding. Sometimes a wet lawn is unavoidable, especially on a clay soil, so it makes perfect sense to select a grass seed mixture that will tolerate wet soil conditions.

Heavy clay soils are often saturated in the winter, but can rapidly turn bone dry in the summer. Our Wet Soils Grass Seed contains tall fescue which is deep rooted and extremely tolerant of this type of soil condition.

MIXTURE CONTENTS:

  • 40% Perennial ryegrass
  • 40% Tall fescue
  • 20% Strong creeping red fescue

Seed this summer! With frequent watering – 2-3 times daily for 5-10 minutes each – and the right conditions, especially in areas with high humidity and regular rainfall, summer seeding can lead to a lush lawn quickly.

My rabbits had destroyed my grass over winter and after scarifying there was barely anything left. One month later it's lovely and green. We didn't rake or cover the seeds over with soil, we accidentally put it down right before a thunderstorm which washed it around, and then there was a heatwave so it's a miracle it worked so well. We used 2.5kg of seed plus some fertiliser first, then a few weeks later used another 2.5kg to go over the patchy areas. We watered it twice a day whilst the weather was dry but I bet if we did this more often or put the seed down at a better time it would be even more lush. The mixture means some of the grass grows tall quickly and the rest is slower but spreads out to fill sparse patches

Looks fantastic! Thanks for sharing the photos!

Grass growing back nicely . Will be interesting to see how it holds up when we have very wet weather again . Hopefully it will withstand it .

Thats starting to come through nicely. Surely we cannot have any more wet weather!!!!

A Bit Disappointed

A little disappointing really as the lawn is very patchy with some seed not germanating at all - followed the recomended sowing rate, and watering etc but have had to go over it again.

Hi Martin, if it has come up patchy it will be because the areas will be slightly firmer/more compacted than others and not a result of the grass seed. Sometimes it can be a damp spot where the soil is a bit cooler. Often these areas will be fine, they just need a little more time to catch up.

I have been unable to write before as seed has only had a few weeks to show .
There has been quite a showing and things are progressing although the soil available is very stony I am hoping that further seeding of the bare patches will result in further coveredge

Our grasses are tried, tested and proven.

we have close and longstanding relationships with experience seed growing specialists
